Orphanage Healing
“What if all children knew they
were loved and belonged?”
“What if all caregivers had the skills to make a difference in a
child’s life?
This program contains four elements: Experiential and
Training of the caregivers, the Facilitation the children in their
care, and Mentoring and follow-up visits. Our target group is
primarily children who are orphaned, abandoned, in foster care, and
otherwise vulnerable. In conjunction, we work with adolescents,
adults, parents, families and communities.
Experientially participants will experience the elements of the
‘Moving Beyond Loss’ workshop that offers a safe way to look at
their own grief and loss. Research has reported time and again it is
vital that those facilitating grief have processed their own grief.
In our holistic and culturally sensitive approach we: help
participants to identify their major losses and support them to
transcend their losses into a place of healing and growth, then into
meaning, purpose, wisdom, and mission.
Train the Trainers happens after the caregivers etc. have looked at
and processed their own grief. This extensive training offers ways
to learn how to facilitate others, specifically the children in
their care, in this program and how to incorporate this new approach
into everyday life.
Facilitation of the children is the final portion of the training.
Those in the Train the Trainer program will assist the ‘What if…’
staff in the facilitation of the children through the children’s
version of the ‘Moving Beyond Loss’.
Mentoring and Follow-Up Visits are developed and designed with the
client so to ensure their individual needs are addressed.
